Welcome at Rewild Yourself. Are you longing for more wildness in your life, and a closer connection with nature? Then this is the place to be. Let me be your guide and let’s explore a wilder life together.
I am a nature lover and a experienced hiker. I have crossed The Netherlands from the coast to the border with Germany by foot, following the Marskramerpad Long Distance Trail. Hiking to me is the best way to connect with nature, the self and the environment. I like to hike alone, but I also enjoy hiking with others. I would love to take you on a hike and start exploring.

My background
A long time ago, I studied Tropical Landuse in Wageningen. After I graduated, I moved to Peru with my husband and then one-year-old son. We lived in Peru for seven years and had two more children, before we moved to Tanzania, where we stayed another five years. Moving back to The Netherlands was a big change, but it also provided new opportunities. I rediscovered the beauty of Dutch nature and landscape and the freedom to go hiking and exploring. At the time, I was working for a nature conservation organisation and learned a lot about Dutch nature as well as the environmental issues we are facing.
Nature studies
In Peru and Tanzania, I was always studying nature, just by observing plants and animals and learning their names. I also did that with my children, to instill a connection with nature in them. Back in The Netherlands, I continued to study plants, animals and other species and built up a wealth of knowledge about Dutch Nature. As your guide, I will share what I know and point out anything interesting we might find along the way.
Hiking
In 2021 I discovered the joy of long distance hiking. I hiked part of the Walk of Wisdom around Nijmegen. I had not prepared for hiking 20 km a day and was pretty tired at the end of each day, but managed to keep going. After that, I took every opportunity to go for a hike. I hiked the Marskramerpad and the Nederlands Kustpad, among others. Often just for a day, sometimes longer. I know what it’s like to go for a 4 or 5 hour hike, how to pace yourself and what to bring. I am looking forward to sharing this experience with you on one of the Dutch Nature Hikes!
Safety and First Aid
Safety during a hike is important. Weather conditions can change and injuries might occur. Prevention always comes first. That is why I will check the weather forcast before each hike and give you suggestions on what to bring in terms of clothing, food, water and snacks. I have a Red Cross certificate for Outdoor First Aid and I will always have a First Aid Kit with me, in case anything happens during a hike.
